1. Anything You Want
Pilot Episode. Simon asks his parents, Eric and Annie Camden, for a new dog. Annie is excited about her parents coming. They are dropping by on a moments notice from Phoenix. Mary wants to date an older guy, specifically Jeff, their next door neighbor and one of Matt's best friends. Lucy wants to get her first period. At the end of the episode, the news is dropped that Jenny, Annie's mother, has acute Leukemia and is not planning on trying nay treatments.

2. Family Secrets
Matt shows the family his new friend, Renee, who is pregnant. Mary keeps Jeff a secret from Matt. Lucy finds out that Jimmy Moon likes her. Eric's shoes keep disappearing due to Happy's new shoe fetish. Simon tries to hide the eaten shows from Eric.. Matt gets the devastating news about his grandmother and is crushed.

3. In The Blink of an Eye
Matt drives the Meals on Wheels van to the diner and gets in trouble with the law and his family. Mary is stuck home for the night when her parent's won't allow her to go to a party. Lucy has her first real date with Jimmy Moon in the living room. Annie flies to Arizona after her parents unexpectantly cancel their trip to GlenOak. She ends up returning with them that same day, and her mother enjoys her last day with her family. At the end of the episode, Annie's mother passes away.

4. No Funerals and a Wedding
Annie is upset when her father abruptly leaves after her mother's funeral. Eric counsels a married couple who isn't legally married. At the end of the episode, he weds the two. Matt helps Renee while she is in labor, and Mary breaks up with Jeff. Simon goes on a quest to find out the exact location of heaven, and Lucy mourns the loss of her grandmother. All day, Ruthie begged her mother to sing "Grandma's Song", a song she once taught to Annie. At the end of the episode, the whole family sings in honor of their Grandma Jenny.

5. The Color of God
The Hamilton's church is burnt down becuase of their skin color, and the Camden's take them in until they feel safe. Lucy befriends Keisha while she and Mary butt heads all weekend. John is upset the whole week because of racial issues. Simon and Nigel as well as Ruthie and Lynn have fun together, proving that the barriers color can bring do not extend into friendship.

6. Halloween
Lucy learns the truth behind the once GlenOak freak "Mike The Mutant". Simon tries to carve the perfect pumpkin to enter in the church carnival. Ruthie tries desperately to get noticed, and struggles over her costume. Matt goes out with a girl who thinks appearances are everything, despite her couples costume choice of Roxanne and Schirano de Burgerack. Mary tricks the family and ends up spending Halloween all by herself, a rare occurrence in a house of seven. Eric discovers the reason behind his Halloween hatred in a friend from his hometown.

7. Saturday
Mary unexpectedly uninvites the family from her basketball game. Lucy invites Ashley (yes, "The Ashley") over to her house while she is supposed to be watching Simon and Ruthie. Ashley storms off, and Lucy realizes that she has lost Simon and Ruthie. They went of in search of the mailman while playing a game of detective. Eric counsels a boy who abuses drugs and reminds his kids of the dangers of doing drugs themselves.

8. What Will People Say?
The Camden kids, as well as the rest of the community, assume the worst when they see Eric entering a motel with another woman (played by Stephen's real life wife, Faye Grant). Annie gives Eric the benefit of the doubt, but everyone else isn't as trusting. All of the kids say something to Eric about his rendezvous. Simon endures teasing about his crush, Gabrielle, and Matt tries to keep things moving slow between Mary and Jeff.

9. See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil
Annie and Matt are carjacked, and her wedding rings are taken from her. Annie appears to be normal, but ends up being extremely shook up. Lucy and Jimmy Moon both run for class president, and Mary wants a tattoo to fit in with the rest of the Lady Wildcats.

10. Last Call For Aunt Julie
Matt, Mary, and Lucy's plans for a Thanksgiving away from home get put on hold when the entire family helps to pitch in with their Aunt Julie, a detoxing alcoholic.

11. Now You See Me
Matt's girlfriend wants to spend more time with the Camden's than she does with Matt. Lucy tries out for the cheerleading team with Matt's help, and Mary is not happy about it. Simon tries to make himself invisible, and Eric and Annie help Matt's girlfriend get over her parent's divorce while aiding the parents as well.

12. With a Little Help from My Friends
Matt secretly helps Mrs. Bink around her house. Eric attempts to help a newly-homeless family overcome their tough times. Lucy is upset over the lack of enthusiasm for her thirteenth birthday, but in the end she is thrown a surprise birthday party. Happy has her puppies, and Simon and Ruthie get a taste of what it is like to be new parents.

13. America's Most Wanted
Mary steals a glass from The Varsity to fit in with the basketball team. Eric finds the glass, and Matt takes the wrap for her, but charges end up being pressed against him for theaft. Lucy puts her name on an old paper of Mary's, and Ruthie learns the words to the Star Spangled banner with help from a new citizen.

14. Seven is Enough
Both Eric and his father, Colonel John Camden, want to adopt a young orphan, George. Annie discovers her lost wedding rings; Matt gets them back for her. Lucy is upset that she is not closer with Grandma Ruth.

With Annie and Eric out of the house, Matt is left in charge. While being preoccupied with his date and Mary's raging party, Happy gets out of the house. She is hit by a car, and Simon blames it all on Matt. Lucy attempts to celebrate her first Valentine's day with Jimmy Moon at the movies while Simon, Nigel, Ruthie, and Lynn raise havoc in another theater.

16. Brave New World
Ruthie goes off to pre-kindegarten, and Annie is upset that her baby is growing up. Matt tries to intervene when Mary is sexually harassed by a bully, Michael Towner, but she proves that she can take care of herself. Lucy asks Eric to find out the real story behind Susanne, her new best friend.

17. Choices
Mary meets a girl in detention, and ends up sneaking out to a fraternity party with her. Eric and Annie take in Eric's old associate pastor, Tom, and Simon and Ruthie secretly buy ferrets. Lucy questions her religion when confirmation classes are mentioned while covering all night for Mary.

18. Faith, Hope, and the Bottom Line
Eric tries to get an ex-con a job at the church, against the church vestry's wishes and hopes for a new security system. Annie becomes temporary treasurer of the church. Lucy gets jealous when Mary tutor's Jimmy Moon in science; she thinks Mary has feelings for him. Simon and Matt are afraid of the doctor, and Ruthie learns the joys and responsibilities of using the telephone.

19. It's About George
The Colonel and Ruth are back in town, along with George. They are shocked to meet the boy's real father, who wants to be a part of George's life. Julie gets out of rehab. Matt and Mary try to help Jimmy Moon prepare to meet their grandparents.

Annie's old high school friend hits on Matt, and this makes him uneasy. Mary sings in a coffee house. Ruthie decides to say good bye to Hooey, and Lucy is upset when Susanne moves to another town not near by.

21. Dangerous Liaisons Part One
Grandpa Charles shows up at the house with his new girlfriend, Ginger, and Annie despises her. She feels it is too soon and Ginger is trying to replace her mother. Matt becomes involved with a deaf girl, Heather, whom he meets at the airport. After coaxing by Simon, Lucy becomes a blonde. Mary meets Wilson West, and is harassed by Michael Towner while they are out on their first date. She finds out that Billy is really Wilson's son, not brother. At the end of the episode, an enraged Annie runs out of the church, and Mary runs after her. When she goes into the street, Mary is hit by a car that speeds off as she hits the ground.

22. Dangerous Liaisons Part Two
While recovering from her hit-and-run accident, Mary is concerned about whether her not her parents will approve of Wilson- or at least enough to allow them to date. Later, she finds out that it was Michael Towner who hit her, and she forgives him. Matt tries to patch things up with Heather, and learns to sign "I'm sorry". Jimmy Moon breaks up with Lucy over her blonde hair, and Eric tries to help Annie come to terms with her father dating.
